A Surrey towing company, A-Jazz Mobile Trading and Towing, is accused by the BC government of buying stolen catalytic converters, according to a lawsuit filed on November 25. The suit targets business owner Jasvindar Singh, seeking to seize his $2.3 million home and over $210,000 in cash found there.– A home paid for from ripping of Canadians like they all do.
The allegations arose from a 2021 Burnaby RCMP investigation into catalytic converter thefts. Singh allegedly purchased numerous stolen converters, including from an undercover officer, knowing they were stolen.
Catalytic converters are valuable due to their precious metal content. During a June 1, 2023, search, police discovered 36 converters and a large sum of cash at Singh’s home, and 400 converters at his business. Singh faces charges of possessing and trafficking in stolen property, with a court date set for January.
The lawsuit claims the cash was from illegal activities, and accuses Singh of money laundering and undeclared income. Despite these allegations, Singh maintains the money and converters were legally acquired through his scrap metal business. His business now only deals in scrap car purchases.
